Painted in the center with a green-ground roundel depicting the black Imperial eagle, enclosed within a gilt band inscribed “Nicholas Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias,” surrounded by stylized rosettes and foliage and the rim with flowering vinery, all on a gilt ground, cypher of Nicholas I in underglaze-blue. Diameter 8 ⅝ inches. Together with a Russian porcelain butter boat and a matching pair of porcelain handled knives and forks. (Not illustrated.)
