Characteristic of Worcester County, Massachusetts long guns; stock with raised carving around trigger guard and lock with beaver tail.Note: The 1790 Federal Census lists both William Ayres and William Ayres, 2nd, as heads-of-households in Brookfield, Massachusetts, a town located approximately 20 miles west of Worcester. In 2018 Northeast Auctions sold a portrait of a young boy, John Ayres of Groton or Pepperell circa 1830, descended from the same family. This is the first time this Fowler has been offered privately.
